New Albany, IN – May 2011 – boice.net, a Cisco certified partner, offers the perfect blend of expertise and experience to help educational institutions such as Hanover College maximize the benefits of a new Unified Communications (UC) system.
Overlooking the gentle sweeps of the Ohio River, nestled in amongst the natural beauty of scenic southeastern Indiana, sits Hanover College. This private, liberal arts college founded in 1827 is home to approximately 1,000 full-time undergraduates, and over 200 faculty and administrators.
Hanover recently made the decision to replace their antiquated and failing private branch exchange (PBX) infrastructure with a state-of-the-art UC system. “We were 100 percent reliant on our service provider to troubleshoot and maintain the system,” says John Collins, Chief Technology Officer from Hanover. “We were forking out a huge investment in both time and money to just maintain the system. That’s when we knew we had to make a change.”
After Hanover chose the Cisco Unified Communications solution, an extensive search for a technology partner to help them design, configure and implement the system was performed. “As we conducted the partner search it became clear that boice.net had the experience, knowledge, and resources to put them at the front of the pack,” says Collins. “They earned our business before and after the sale by delivering great care and attention to our needs. I’m sure we’re not their largest client, but the boice.net team made sure we felt like we were.”
“Thanks to our partnership with boice.net we were able to accelerate our roll-out of the new system and negate any major downtime from the PBX failing,” says Collins. “Our old system put up a fight to the end, but boice.net handled the challenges quickly and efficiently, turning what could’ve been a disastrous event into a smooth and seamless implementation.”
Since implementing the new system, the IT team at Hanover now has the flexibility and reliability that they need. It has enabled the team to quickly troubleshoot any problems themselves, often remedying them within minutes; a task which they used to rely on a service provider and often took days to address with the previous system.
A great example of the flexibility and efficiency of the system was on display during a home football game this fall when the phones in the press box weren’t working properly.
"I was able to troubleshoot the system remotely from home and correct the problem in a matter of minutes and so the game went on,” says Collins. “In the past it would’ve taken at least a few of hours to drive to the campus, address the situation and then call in our service provider.”
Additionally, Hanover is also leveraging the great flexibility the system for things such as their annual phone-a-thon fundraising effort, and their campus switchboard.
With the UC system in place, and boice.net onboard as their proven IT partner, Hanover College is positioned to answer the IT needs of the campus both now and in the future.
